Weekend with Dad!

Hello all!

After a action packed weekend with my dad, he took off yesterday to head to Bangalore for work. We had a fabulous weekend together! Friday night we went to the famous Raffles Hotel and got their signature drink, the Singapore Sling. We sat at the Long Bar where supposedly Ernest Hemingway spotted a tiger walking around. Following a lovely happy hour, we went down to Clark Quay (fyi for you non-engineering folk/english majors, it's pronounced "Clark Key"...it also happens to be a fabulous Scrabble word). We got a bite to eat and walked around the many bars and restaurants.
Saturday morning we went to the Henderson Waves Bridge. Apparently cabbies and concierge folk don't spend a lot of time reading the "top 10 engineering feats" because both my dad and I had heard of this in one of those lists but it was hard to find! Our first cabbie dropped us off 1.8 km away, no big deal until the skywalk path we were on was under construction for soil stabilization. We were pretty much in the middle of nowhere, and then miraculously, a cab driver pulled up near us and knew exactly where to take us to the bridge! It lights up with LEDs at night so I'll have to go back sometime in the evening! That afternoon we went on the already posted monkey search and followed it up with a dinner in Chinatown.
Sunday we did uber touristy things- went on a duck tour, followed by a spin in the world's highest observation wheel, the Singapore flyer, and wrapped up the night checking out the club and casino at the Marina Bay Sands. Marvelous views from the top! Overall a very fun and great weekend! I hope you enjoy the pictures below!!

Long Bar- Singapore Sling (yummy!)

World's WORST street performer! (Clark Quay)

Henderson Wave Bridge...oh lala so cool!

I would not do well on a deserted island. Drinking the milk inside a coconut is not at all delicious. At least I tried it!

Duck Tour!

New indoor botanical gardens being built. View from the duck boat.

Merlion as seen from the boat.

This is in the running for my favorite Singapore building...

My favorite building again.

Singapore likes its "World's Biggest" titles....well here you go, World's Biggest Floating Stage.

World's Biggest Observation Wheel- the Singapore Flyer. 30m larger than the London Eye (shhhh...Beijing is currently building one that's bigger...oh snap Singapore better get on your act together!)
