Sorry for the delay in posting, off having too much fun I guess!
Friday night I went to Bali , Indonesia . My first trip south of the Equator- you betcha that I checked out the Coriolis effect- the oppositely swirling drain water! I took a half day that Friday and flew out that night. It’s only a 2 hour jaunt from Singapore to Depansar, Bali . My flight however, got delayed- not a terrible problem since I was getting in at night anyway but it did worry me that my shuttle driver was not going to be there. I flew Royal Dutch Airlines, pretty nice cabin overall.
I get off in Bali and pay my $25 USD Visa fee. I make it through customs and immigration no problem. I get outside to look for my shuttle and it’s absolute chaos. Imagine the first 8 rows of a concert, with everyone standing behind a little fence all hollering and waving signs- but instead of signs that say “I <3 J-Biebs” they “Hyatt” and “Mr. Kuanathrupa." I searched the crowd in hopes to find a “Ms. Murphy” or “Conrad Bali” sign. After about 5 minutes I was going to give up and take cab thinking that my shuttle driver must have left since I was delayed. Right when I was about to head over to the taxi queue, I glance to the back and chilling up against a pillar lackadaisically holding a “Conrad Bali” sign was my driver. I go over, he smiles “Ms. Murphy” and we’re off- all is good!
I get to the hotel and still don’t know how Melissa is doing. She arrived 10 hours before me. The room was under my name and they never responded to my inquiry on if she would be allowed to check in early (I complained about their lack of response so we got a sweet suite upgrade!). I check-in while keeping my eye out for Melissa and am led all the way across the resort to the most amazing suite ever! Melissa ended up being able to get in after all- thank goodness! The room was huge, came with complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and happy hour. My favorite part had to be the free laundry service which we totally took advantage of. There was also a suite only pool area. It’s nice to be pampered! Thank you taxpayers :)
Melissa and I caught up about our arrivals into Bali , took a quick stroll around the grounds so I could see the place, caught the tail end of a gorgeous wedding reception and hit the hay.
I’ll post about the rest of the trip later with pictures!!
