I should watch more Maury and I can see Malaysia from my lunch table....

So Monday I chilled...all day. But that night I hit the town with a guy from my hotel, Sammy, who I met at the pool. His tardiness had us not departing until 11:30pm...great idea on my part when I leave for work at 7am. We were going to go across the street to Muddy Murphy's until we got the genius idea to explore Orchard Towers. I had heard from guys in the past that I would not get bothered by the prostitutes inside, but guys on the other hand get pestered like crazy! So I told Sammy sure, I'd run security. He said if we ever went out when I got back to LA (he's from Pasadena) he would be protective at a bar. Fair trade-off and I'm always down for people watching.

Well I didn't take any pictures but lets just say, this was some of the most amazing people watching I've ever experienced! In our late night shenanigans we hit a bar on each floor (4), and played a game we titled "Find the Lady-Boys". Fortunately, there is no winner in this game, you just try to guess who's a guy dressed as a hooker, for we'd never actually find out the truth. I remember back in the day, watching Maury and Jen and Jill were EXCELLENT at knowing who's a guy. I on the other hand, did not inherit this skill. Unless they wore a turtleneck to hide their Adam's apple or had giant hands, my guesses were like throwing darts in the dark. Things are a little different in Singapore....they let you drink till you pass out and fall off your stool (witnessed at the country bar), they serve Tiger beer in pitchers shaped like Erlenmeyer flasks, the employees bust out into the most unenthusiastic choreographed dance when certain songs come on, and they have the best bands ever! Filipino cover bands put any bar band I've ever seen to shame, one band went from Lady Gaga to Journey to the Eagles to Bruno Mars flawlessly. Freaking cool.

Well when the clock was closing in on 3am, I was thinking we were just going to cross the street to our hotel. Quite the opposite. Sammy, born in Indian, was having some late night munchies...unlike me who wants junk/fast food on a night out (by the way, McDonald's delivers here), Sammy had us in a cab heading towards Little India going towards a 24-hr biryani place. Mutton biryani (we switched plates, I don't like chicken with bones) at 3am is NOT A SMART CHOICE. I tasted that food all the next day...lesson learned. Still a great night out and despite only sleeping 2 hours totally worth it and I'd do it again....minus the biryani.

Tuesday night I chilled and went to the already posted about fish spa.

Wednesday night- out again with Sammy. He had a local coworker with us and we ended up at Chjimes listening to a great Filipino band. Every song that came on, the local, Saol, would ask if it's a popular song. I was impressed by how many songs he knows but he is lacking the more current songs (Edge of Glory, Party Rock Anthem, The Lazy Song)...Much to the chagrin of Sammy, I won over and at 2 in the morning got french fries instead of biryani!

Crank that volume up

Thursday my coworkers took me out for local food during lunch. Interesting but not too weird food, and on the heat-spicy skill I can match them (thank goodness, the prawns and beans were packing insane heat). Across the river from the restaurant I could see Malaysia!

Sammy left today but luckily, I have another group of friends I met on base that have adopted me....I'll post those stories soon!
