Hey!
After Dad left Monday morning I decided to have a very chill day. Monday was my RDO so I didn't have to work. Every other day thus far, I spent my free hours booking it to see the many sights and things Singapore has to offer. But today, I went to the pool, read my book, went to the gym and then up to the Executive Lounge. I ran into an older gentleman who I had met around Halloween, he has been here 39 days and left today. I referred to him as "Nice Guy" but found out his name was Glenn. He gave me the book, Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand to read since he didn't wanna haul it back to Denver. I'm excited for the read since I already finished the book I bought Thursday, it's by the author of Seabiscuit and it's highly recommended by Glenn.Anywho, while talking to Glenn, his other pilot friend (they're both probably late 60s and teach pilot classes for Boeing) asked me about my job. While filling him in, a fella by the name of Brian, at the adjacent table overheard me and we found out.....that we work in the same building back in Port Hueneme! Totally ironic! Brian is leaving Friday but I asked him if he wanted to go to the fish spa and he willingly agreed! (Oh government employees making the best use of our per diem!) It's a common thing here...I'm not a weirdo.
That brings us to tonight. There was a chain fish spa 5 minute walk from my hotel that I had scouted out. Apparently you stick to chain fish spas because some of the cheaper joints have knock off fish and they aren't as healthy or sanitary. Basically we paid $29.95 to have 15 minutes of fish sucking dead skin off our feet/calves and a 10 minute shoulder massage. The massage was a nice distraction from the bizarro feeling on our feet. It tickled, they probed, it made us jump....total wimps! The lady sprays us from knees down with some sanitizing solution and rinses it off. Then she tapes over mosquito bites because the fish would bite those until they bleed. Then we just dunked our feet in. We probably had 12 minutes with the tiny- beginner fish before the final 10 minutes in the big fish tank. THE BIG FISH WERE WAY WORSE! You could actually feel them sucking and nibbling your skin. They also liked my feet waaaay more than Brian's- kinda embarrassing considering I get pedicures somewhat often. It left my feet much smoother though!! It was definitely an experience I'd never forget and a feeling I'll always remember (and apprehension when entering lakes now haha).
